How many times have you heard a child counseled to ignore being picked on, to toughen up, or to fight back? Adults often fail to understand the impact bullying has on a child—some even view it as a rite of passage. Face-to-face bullying can make anyone’s life miserable; but technology has upped the ante. • Review a clear definition of bullying and common characteristics of bullies and their victims.
• Explore tactics for identifying instances of bullying and common strategies for reining in bullying.
• Identify strategies parents and educators can use to identify and deal with cyberbullying.
